I do see it as a spiritual journey, after all. Sort of an Eat, Pray Love meets Erma Bombeck. Then again, there are so many of these types of books already out there, what would make my story any different or special? Why does the world need yet another book on "How I discovered myself and the lessons I learned along the way?"
And then, I re-read The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, and I got it. Everyone receives the same message in their own unique manner. It has long been recognized that people have different learning styles; some are visual learners, some are aural, some are verbal, some are kinesthetic, and most of us learn through a combination of all those methods. In other words, the identical message can be taught and received through countless means.
And thus, it is with books. I mean, come on! How many Harlequin Romance novels does the world need? Well, apparently a lot because they take up a huge section of the shelf space in the library. (Seriously?) What about all the mystery and detective novels? (What am I going to read when Sue Grafton has exhausted the alphabet?! Maybe she'll start on numbers. Oooh, there would be no end!) You get my drift. There is enough room for it ALL. And that is one of the biggest lessons I want to impart on my kid. The myth that there is not enough of anything in this world is just that. A
