Being an American can mean different things to many people. Being an American to me means to be able to celebrate many holidays with our loved ones. Some examples of these holidays are The 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas. Families and other countries celebrate most of these holidays, although in diverse ways. Celebrating holidays is what I think makes us Americans.

Did you know The 4th of July is only an American holiday? On this day the thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England. On The 4th of July families coalesce together to celebrate their independence. Most families have a BBQ then watch fireworks with their friends, family or neighbors. My family usually gets together with friends to watch the 4th of July parade,
