During the course of the war though just as WWI before it there was battle on a large scale , soldiers dying constantly and bombings all over but yet again the technology was better such as the planes which allowed for more efficient and deadly air attacks. Of course there were also the atrocities committed during it by other countries such as Germany and the holocaust or the very well known attack on Pearl harbor , even at home bases places were not safe and getting targeted. Other than all those things this time just had a great mental toll on the people along with the actual bloodshed there are always battles , but for the longest time the war went on and then we know the inevitable end with the nukes. What was probably one of the hardest things during the war was the use of nuclear force in Japan , in what was the first and so far last use of nuclear force in war many many people died and an entire city was totally devastated in an instant which quickly ended the war. Probably one of the harshest attacks in human history , maybe not brutal physically but many people died in an instant an an entire city was reduced to rubble. The thing about the cold war though is that it did not really have a war go on during it or much bloodshed directly between the groups. The key to the bloodshed is what happened during this era , we have other wars and other events that happened during this time that are fighting the battle against communism which is what the Soviet Union represented to most of
