The 18 Weapons of Kong Fu, is a documentary that I’ve been working on recently. It’s about an intangible cultural heritage in Hangzhou. The motivation of this work comes from my observation that traditional art in China has been fading since the farming civilisation was hugely impacted by the modern commercial civilisation. Since participating in an exchange student programme in the University of Manchester two years ago, I have found that thinking outside of the box, making environmental changes and learning new methods would benefit my studies and creativity. As for UCL, a senior student whom I highly respected once told me, “You will never ever get bored at UCL.” She described UCL as “A place where you can feel the heartbeat of London,” a university that provides its students with so many chances to broaden their vision, social network and life. She also pointed out one feature of UCL is it’s “diversity” and “vitality,” not only because it is a comprehensive university, but also for its international personnel. In addition, another one of my favourite directors, Christopher Nolan, established the “16mm Community” as a student attending UCL. Overall, I believe that studying in UCL would more than provide me with taking my specialty to the next
