The Toyota Way Summary

In the book, “The Toyota Way” by Jeffrey Liker, the author introduces that the 14 principles of the Toyota way could be divided into four categories, including “long-term philosophy, the right process will produce the right results, add values to the organizations by developing your people, and continuously solving root problems drives organizational learning”. From my perspective, I want to talk about them from three major aspects. I will talk about their system firstly, then continue to show why they would apply these two systems because of the problem they are facing. Finally, I will say something about how their continuous improvement works and impacts on my life. We all know that the Toyota company is a famous Japanese company for producing the automobiles, their products have been sold to any place around the world. So, it can give us the reason why they perform so well in the car manufacturing industry, because the Toyota company also pay a lot attention to their company’s culture construction instead of just targeting on making money. They focus a lot on the relationship between the managers and employees, workers and their working environment. These are useful ways to strengthen the importance of reducing the waste. The principle of Just-in-time says producing the correct parts at the proper time. For all those other works which should not be processed at this moment should be stopped in order to prevent the overproduction. Jidoka also talks the similar idea to minimize the unnecessary wastes through immediate stops whenever problems are showing up. It is called automatic stop.
