Explain The Steps Of The 10-Step Strategic Planning Process

The 10-step strategic process is set up to help organizations meet their obligations, fulfill their missions and create public awareness. Step one of the process is to negotiate agreement with crucial decision makers or leaders to the strategic planning process, the outcomes, schedule, key planning tasks, and to be successful. During this stage someone must begin the process for the strategic planning process. They must ascertain who the primary decision makers will be as well as who will be the strategic planning process sponsor (SPS), the strategic planning process champion (SPC), the strategic planning coordinating committee (SPCC), and the strategic planning team (SPT). They will also decide who should be involved in the work (individual person’s, groups, units, organizations, etc). A readiness assessment should be done prior to beginning the planning effort to determine how adept the organization is of taking on a strategic planning effort or if additional ability is required.
Step two is to clarify the organizational mandates. Mandates may be conveyed formally or informally. Formal mandates state what must or should be done based upon their current policies as well as under federal, state and local laws and regulations. Informal mandates can be based upon the culture of the organization,

Creating a strategic plan is not sufficient to implement it throughout the organization. The plan should include what should be done, how it should be done, where, when, why and by whom the implementation process should be done. Implementation issues should be taken into consideration when starting the strategic plan process so that it can be carried out efficiently and successfully. Implementation processes should also start as early as possible and not wait until the strategic plan has been completed before beginning
