On Thanksgiving
On Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving, a holiday deeply rooted in American culture, is celebrated in accordance with the applicable tradition and rituals. Closely related to the tradition of first immigrants, Thanksgiving does not undergo any fashions and fluctuations. Thanksgiving Turkey has to be big ( 19 lbs) to feed 20 people and to provide much more food than during the regular meal (Friends). Thanksgiving dinner without turkey and typical dishes does not exist, like “4th July with no pie”(Friends). By consuming and celebrating food, people show their appreciation for all they achieved due to their social and national affiliation.…
Regarding to the book Lies My Teacher Told me, “The Truth About the First Thanksgiving.” This chapter focus on plaques and the first Thanksgiving. Loewe James focus on the caused of the plaque more than the first Thanksgiving. Because of the plaque was one of the reason that lead to Thanksgiving. I find several interesting things in this chapter.…
Colton Ender 6th October Journal 10/18/2016 Over the weekend I had to do yardwork, like rake pinecones and dump them into our neighbors burn pile. It was very boring definitely when my brother barely helped at all. My brother just rode the four wheeler around since my parents weren’t home and I had to rake all the pinecones into garbage cans. Over the weekend we also took our camper down to Cooler Valley RV to get it winterized.…
The first person I asked was Dezmyn Abbring, a student at Kankakee Valley, about how he would usually spend his Thanksgiving. Some things he said that were unique were that he goe down to Tennessee to visit relatives. Another would be that he usually watches sports while he eats Thanksgiving dinner with his family. When the Pilgrims and the Indians had their Thanksgiving, they didn’t…

Oklahoma trip This last week was Labor Day weekend my family took a trip to Oklahoma. We were going to Shattuck Oklahoma which is 4 and a half hour a way to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. On the way there it was so boring and long that I just texted some friends and slept. Then my mom told us to wake up because we were almost there.…
Upon arriving at The Temple B’nai Jeshurun I was not exactly sure what to expect or what I had got myself into. I had assumed that my class would be looked at weird and treated funny because we were spectating their Jewish worship. However, after arriving in the sanctuary the people were very friendly and welcoming. Some even came up to us and shook our hands and told us they were glad to have us there. Sally Frank was very helpful and mentioned someone of the holidays we had learned about in class including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover, and Sabbath.…
Every year on Thanksgiving break I have gone to my grandparents house to stay for the week. For me this is important because my grandparents live a good ways away and I barely get to see them. This became a tradition when I moved away from where they live because that's when our other traditions ended like on wednesdays we used to meet somewhere and eat dinner but we can’t do that any more so we thought that Thanksgiving break is a good time to go see them because we have off school and they can get off work. The whole time we are up there we laugh cook and have fun together.…

Over the summer I went on a great vacation with my family. My entire family flew from Denver to Florida. We took a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas and back to Florida again. After the cruise our vacation continued at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. It was a fun filled vacation and a great cruise filled with lots of fun activities.…
The best day last week must be Thursday due to the extreme amount of attention my favorite activities received. Although I constantly take part in my favorite activities, I never truly enjoy every second of them due to my tight schedule. Every day I rush home, eat quickly, isolate myself in order to complete my homework, then sleep and repeat my day all over again. During Thanksgiving break, my school schedule decided to take a vacation and left my social life to arise, allowing myself to enjoy the time to actually devour and savor my favorite foods thus allowing Thursday to be my favorite day. This year Thanksgiving fell on a Thursday and since no school work or extracurricular activity stood in the way, I enjoy every single edible object…
Little did I know my grandma had most of it planned out. So we got into our uber and headed to the hotel, when we arrived there I was astonished, the hotel was breathtaking and best of all we…
The next morning, we had went to this trail kind of thing where you would walk and there would be carvings of like cartoon characters in the trees. For instance, there was a carving of Spongebob and Elmo too. It was a pretty cool experience to me, and we also saw a deer. That night, we had went to a steakhouse to eat at for dinner. The morning had come and we were happy for that day because we were going to a local fair they were having.…
My Amazing Trip On my trip to Galveston I had a lot of fun! Me and my family had drove from Austin to Galveston, it was a 4 hour trip. It was loud and tring and on are way there was a Buc-ees we stop and decided to get lunch because one half was a food market the other half a souvenir shop. During the trip I saw a Beach for the first time and on the beach I saw a fish that had been cut in half by a boat propeller. Then my Grandpa Pete (he loves to joke and have fun)…
