As a result of American cultural and national solidarity to the Thanksgiving tradition, individual’s choices are marginal,…
Christmas Sausage What is one dish you have on Christmas or the Holidays? A dish I have on Christmas is sausage. It is a tradition to have sausage in my family. When my grandma and grandpa lived in Romania, it was a big deal to have homemade sausage on Christmas.…
At various locations they observed consumers purchasing Blue Bell with no hesitation. Upon further inspection of their carts they observed items that would indicate the ice cream being included in a party; pies, turkey, sides typically associated with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. An observation that one researcher made was one of her own parents. Like many families, Thanksgiving includes pumpkin and cherry pie.…
Thanksgiving Myths There are many Thanksgiving myths but I’m here to talk to you about two of them. The first one is “Native Americans wore complicated headdresses.” Well the feathery headdresses you are thinking of are barely worn only on special occasions.…
My family is small compared to some, but the love is unmistakable. Holidays are my favorite time of year because my whole family gets together. Every Christmas, I bake with both of my Grandmas, my aunts, and my mom. My grandma Arlene and my grandma Jeania have “super-secret” recipes that they will only share with each other. Including Grandma Jeania’s Ginnie’s spaghetti that my Florida family begs for when they come to visit.…
In my family Christmas time is the best time of the year. We always gather together and celebrate with a big beautiful tree and great food. The one food that is always a must have is tamales. My great grandmother started this tradition in her house, located in Durango, Mexico, because it was the one and only food she could always get the youngest child to eat. The children always enjoy cheese stuffed tamales while the adults enjoy red pork tamales.…
It’s a bright autumn morning that consists of brilliant colors, crisp leaves that crunch beneath my feet and the air just cool enough for a light jacket. The holidays are finally here and saying that I am absolutely thrilled would be an understatement. It is my favorite time of year! My stomach begins to growl with hunger in anticipation of what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I realize a feast is in store for me.…
Being American means eating a hot dog while enjoying a baseball game or barbequing some pork ribs when celebrating a fourth of July. Our food and eating habits represent the culture we identify ourselves with. Cultures are represented by their different ethnic foods. There are a lot of foods that represent our American culture. The all American hamburgers, steak, sandwiches, hot dogs, and the traditional turkey.…
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! Everyone else thinks that Christmas is better than Thanksgiving, but they’re wrong. It’s) the best holiday for several reasons.…
Last November, a week before Thanksgiving, I was listening to the morning radio talk show The Woody Show and the hosts were talking about how excited they were for the Thanksgiving feast. They all went around and shared what was their perfect meal for that day. It ranged from fried turkey, to stuffing, cornbread, green bean casserole, and towards the end the hosts argued about cranberry sauce. However, they all agreed that pumpkin pie was essential to the perfect meal. I found it very interesting that while they argued about the way the meal was executed, they all agreed on the basic components to the meal-I didn’t.…
With each round of the seasonal carousel comes the holidays, which come and go like old friends. They bring memories of past, and promise of new traditions to come. Whether it is winter the incandescent branches of pine are adorned in glittering glass.. Easter, when children scatter in search of painted eggs. Halloween, where children come knocking late in the evening, or thanksgiving-- thankfully eating until you almost yack.…
I do a lot of things for thanksgiving. I have traditions and a lot of food! But most of all we all have fun. I eat multiple things on thanksgiving. I eat turkey, ham, and cheesy potatoes.…
My family and I do not celebrate turkey day (Thanksgiving), however, we do occasionally eat a turkey dinner. It is hard to choose just one item from this dinner because I like combining the flavors of the cranberries, mashed potatoes, and stuffing to create a sweet and savory flavor, but if I had to choose one of the items that the meal absolutely could not go without it would be the delicious stuffing topped with turkey gravy (yes actual gravy not brown sauce.). There was once a close elderly friend of mine who had parkinson's disease, due to his disease his hands shook uncontrollably and it was very hard for him to work on his projects. He invited my family and me over to help him put together a puppet show stand.…

As we arrived all my cousins ran towards the river taking off their shirt without any hesitation.…
Greatness should never be materialized in our achievements, but in the beliefs and notions we adopt. Everyday our feelings develop and our ideas change opening up new horizons that we could never dream of. As fire purifies gold, hardships beautifully craft our purposes. Thus, I will take you on a short journey to my life that might reveal a glance of how I have achieved my current goals and why I wish to pursue my LL.M degree at Duke. While most grandparents begin to retire raising children when their children leave for life, my grandparents had a challenge dropped into their laps.…
