Thanksgiving Monologue

Good morning Laurie,

My boyfriend didn’t go. He had last minute family plans. I went with my family but only stayed for an hour because of my shoes, they were too pointy, and I could not go to the gym part of the building where all the entrainment were. So it was no fun. Holy cow! That is a lot, but that’s really neat though! LOL, my son was sick all thanksgiving week too! With coughs and thick secretion side effect from his botox that recently was injected to this saliva glands. So Thanksgiving wasn’t so much fun for me neither. Not too much excitement happened on my Thanksgiving. Just the traditional family get together and eat turkey. I’m glad you are feeling better! My son is also!!! I hope you are done moving your jewelry stuff by now.

A few hours past and it was almost time to go to my aunt's house where we were having our Thanksgiving dinner at.…

On August 17, of 2016 I seen this beautiful girl named Macy Swanson. That whole school year I didn't say a word to her because I didn't think I would stand and chance with such an amazing beautiful girl. But a year later I had the gut to text her best friend on July 15th, 2017. I told her I though her best friend Macy was really pretty. Then finally on July 22, I texted her on Facebook messenger and from that day on we've been talking since.…

Every year on Thanksgiving break I have gone to my grandparents house to stay for the week. For me this is important because my grandparents live a good ways away and I barely get to see them. This became a tradition when I moved away from where they live because that's when our other traditions ended like on wednesdays we used to meet somewhere and eat dinner but we can’t do that any more so we thought that Thanksgiving break is a good time to go see them because we have off school and they can get off work. The whole time we are up there we laugh cook and have fun together.…

The Myth that the first Thanksgiving was held at Plymouth Rock is true. It was held in 1621 where the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag shared food. This food varied from turkey, waterfowl, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash. This is why Thanksgiving is known for a time of sharing and peace. In America they would gather to celebrate Thanksgiving and they will do so at the dinner table. The meal, with roots in the ancient traditions of harvest festivals and in the religious fervor of the Puritans who settled here, has grown into a secular feast of abundance. Whether taking place in Duluth, Minnesota or at the Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, the American tradition is to roast a turkey and eat it along with a slew of side dishes, all in the company of family and friends. So here’s the thing: while it is an iconic food, no one would argue that a roast turkey is the American national dish – turkey on multigrain for lunch aside. Plopping a turkey on an overladen table is reserved almost solely for this day.…

Have you ever noticed how in the stores you will see a plethora of Halloween costumes, decorations and the like but immediately following Halloween, you see Christmas themed decorations all over and very little to commemorate Thanksgiving? The most I've seen have had leaves and maybe a cornucopia and really only enough scattered throughout the store to fill a half to one whole aisle. It seems that our national holiday is only truly named and observed within "leaked" black friday ads, alerting you to when the advertised deals start. This never really bothered me in the past. As a little girl Thanksgiving was all about the Macy's Parade, the dog show, food, and the countdown until santa claus and presents galore.…

Last November, a week before Thanksgiving, I was listening to the morning radio talk show The Woody Show and the hosts were talking about how excited they were for the Thanksgiving feast. They all went around and shared what was their perfect meal for that day. It ranged from fried turkey, to stuffing, cornbread, green bean casserole, and towards the end the hosts argued about cranberry sauce. However, they all agreed that pumpkin pie was essential to the perfect meal. I found it very interesting that while they argued about the way the meal was executed, they all agreed on the basic components to the meal-I didn’t.…
