“DING!”
There’s the recess bell! The best part of the day! We actually have two recesses here, the first one is around ten and the second one is at two. No recess before or after lunch! This is my Second Grade School, a private school in Wisconsin. It’s called Mt. Calvary (Note: That was back then, as of 2016 it’s Shepard of the Valley.) “Sure! Who’s it?”
“You!”
And with that, we started running outside to the playground. This particular playground is encased in a square wood border with lots of blue soft rubber chips so If we fall off, we don’t get that hurt. I tagged one of my friends, and they tagged someone that was close to them. Now they were aiming for me! I’m always the target of the game, and that’s really fun! Down the slide I go!
“I’m coming for you!”
Oh no! He’s right behind me! I reach the bottom, and I try to run, but I trip!
“SNAP” It was like I stepped on a twig. I noticed that I was now lying on my stomach. Why am I on the ground? Ouch! Why does my arm hurt so much? I can’t even feel it! It’s like a part of me is gone! I look at my arm, and instantly wish I hadn’t. I see the issue. My arm broke. It’s in a Z like shape, instantly a circle of kids forms around me. I hear whistles blow, and the kids run inside. Teachers are now coming around me. I don’t think this is good. I suddenly start crying, it’s surreal.

I still have it. It’s a very nice gift from the school. Everyone wrote little letters, or drew pictures, etc. of what happened and they all wished me well. Everyone signed the envelope that it came in. That made me feel a lot better about my situation. I learned that day that I was not invincible, that when you think you are, the real world comes in and slaps you in the face to make sure you remember that you can’t control it. It reminds you every single day that the odds are not in your favor, and we still go on. We remember that the world is cruel and unfair. That day I learned my
