Maybe, though, the teachers and kids in her new school wouldn't know how dumb she was” (2). She hopes the kids and teachers in her new school won't notice that she can't read. She still couldn't read at the new school. “At the new school it was the same. When she tried to read, she stumbled over words…” (2). The kids in her class laughed at her. She wanted to go to school less and less. For fifth grade Trisha gets a new teacher. “Then, one day, she had to stand up and read, which she hated. She was stumbling through a page in Charlotte's Web, and the page was going all fuzzy, when the kids began to laugh out loud” (2). Then, Mr. Falker stands up for her and says, “Stop! Are all of you so perfect that you can look at another person and find fault with her?” (2). That was the last time anyone laughed or made fun of

Sitting at the bus stop, feeling the cool concrete beneath his feet, and the chipped, worn down bench, Goober waited anxiously for the bus. The Prius wasn’t...a new car. It was several years old, actually, and even if it hadn’t been Lucinda’s family would have done good work on it and you might have thought that it was. A booster seat was buckled haphazardly in the back next to an abandoned McDonald’s bag that held a single decaying fry, which clung to its short fast-food life with all the desperation of students on their last day of summer. I could relate. When I got in, my friend apologized for the “old weed” smell - her older brother had taken the car earlier in the week.…
