In the text Doing The Right Thing, the poem The Road Not Taken and the short story Thank You, Ma’am, all the characters had that someone to look up to. In Doing The Right Thing, the football players all have their families to look up to. In the text, it states “These four young men had that someone when it mattered most. For Biondi, It was his mother. For Gallimore, it was his whole family, who now call him ‘Honest Abe’. For James, it was his father ‘He sacrificed a lot for me’ James wrote ‘I want to make him proud of me. I don’t want him to look at me like I was a waste of time.” (Reilly) This shows that in the text that the four football players could have stolen, but instead, they paid for their items because their family might have told them to never steal. In “The Road Not Taken” the speaker (Frost) describes both roads, he states “long I stood… And looked down one as far as I could… To where it bent in the undergrowth” (Frost, 137). This excerpt can be seen as the roads being a metaphor for the future. When the speaker examines both roads but cannot see beyond the undergrowth, this demonstrates the poet’s interpretation that no one knows what the future holds. As the audience reads further the speaker states “Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way” (Frost, 137).…

Comparative Essay Following your path is a good thing but there are negatives and positives that go along with making your own decisions. In both “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “Experience” by Dorothy Livesay the poets use metaphor and point of view to communicate their difficult experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, however Frost and Livesay had two different experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, which is shown in their poems. Both poets used metaphor to express the way they felt and to show how it was when they left, and they used point of view to communicate and describe their experiences and feelings while trying to find their own way. And the difficult experiences that they faced.…

Thomas in an attempt to show his American friend rare plants or a great view; would choose different routes each day. However, Thomas would never be fully satisfied with the path he chose, and would habitually fuss over his unchangeable choice.…
