There are thousands acts of kindess everyday.In Langston Hughes's short story “Thank you M’am,” the main character Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones demonstrated a true act of generosity when she encountered Roger with providing water for him to cleanse his face, she fed him with the little groceries she did have,and provided him money.Roger tried to snatch Mrs.Luella’s pocket book, all because he wanted blue suede shoes.No One was home at Roger’s houseand it was eleven at night.. Roger gets taken in by the women, whom is Mrs. Luella, when he tries to steal her purse. Mrs. Luella decides he needs a punishment, and take him him and shows him that many people wouldn’t of let him get away with this.The discipline he needs requires something that will teach him that as complicated as life is, there is not always someone one there to depend on. Luella provided him the money for the blue suede shoes that he tried to snatch her pocket book for. She makes sure she tells him not to try and snatch her pocket book nor anyone's else's pocket book anymore.Mrs. Luella made sure that Roger would learn his lesson and taught him these acts of kindness. Mrs. Luella might not of been a rich woman physically but mentally she had a heart of gold.Mrs. Luella lead him to the front door,and told him to behave himself, and they never saw each other again.
Providing water,providing food, and giving away money is a way to teach a young man not to steal.Mrs. Luella takes him in her home and tries and teach him right from wrong. She tested him by leaving her purse on the bed, and he did not even touch it.mrs. Luella is mostly generous. Mrs. Luella knew that Roger did not have someone to look after him , and show him right and wrong or to guide him through his life that she was going to be there to show him. She teaches his about alot. Roger knew when he left that house that she had given him
