Prayer: A Spiritual Analysis

Okay, so by now, most of you know that God answered my prayers to approve my church loan, and that He did not answer my prayer to heal my body which has been sickened. You also know that my update from Monday was filled with sorrow and hurt but all the while I knew the Holy Spirit was telling me that God is in control. I received so much encouragement from emails, phone calls and comments and I am so very truly thankful for everyone that has kept me and my family in their prayers. I wanted to let you know that Yes, God is in control, He always has a plan, and when He closes one door, He opens another; we must remain hopeful and have faith in Him. When I woke up on Tuesday, I decided that I had cried and mourned enough and I needed to continue …show more content…
I need treatment no surgery just treatment. Praise God from Whom All Blessing Flow! He had His plan all along; I let my plans get in the way. How awesome is God? This is where the song, “sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers” starts playing in my head, followed by, “God is in control”, along with some, “yes Lord, yes Lord, yes Lord” and rounded out with “our God is an awesome God, He reigns from heaven above, with Wisdom, Power and Love, our God is an awesome God!”So, I said all this to say, for those of you out there who are saying, “when God, when?” know that He does hear you and has a plan for you. It is in His time. On Monday, I did not want to hear these words, even though I heard them in my spirit. Its okay to cry out to God, to tell Him how you feel and let yourself mourn for a bit. It’s important to remember that while you are crying and mourning that He is in control and to submit your will to His. The pain you suffer now wont compare to the joy that is coming (Romans 8:18).Stay encouraged, reach out to friends and fellow believers and grab the hem of His garment and don’t let go! Father, Master of the Universe, Creator of all things seen and unseen, I humbly thank you and praise you for blessing me

From the Flick of a Light Switch to the Destruction of Mountains How does flicking on a light switch relate to the destruction of some of the oldest mountains in the world? A good question, related largely to this one: What does a meeting of Catholics called “Prayer on the Mountain,” an article writer and blogger named Erik Reece, seventy-seven commercial fishing groups, the Coal River Valley community, seven hundred Alaskan hunting and angling groups, the National Council of Churches, two hundred chefs and restaurant owners, and lots of community members all have in common? These two very different questions relate to one thing: coal companies that destroy the environment and communities in order to mine more coal at a cheaper price and in less time. How are the coal companies going about such a task? They are using a technique called strip mining, or sometimes mountaintop removal.…

Even in the midst of shock and disbelief they needed a visible reminder of God’s presence. There were no words to fix or even begin to explain the horror of their grief but my mere presence helped to point them to God’s never-failing love and presence in the midst of the worst day of their lives. When I returned home from that emotionally and spiritually exhausting visit, I immediately walked the prayer labyrinth in my backyard. As I walked and foolishly prayed for the “right words to say”. God reminded me (with a fat raindrop to the top of my head) that I was not alone, the family was not alone; God was present with us in the tears, grief and the subsequent anger and doubt after a loss of a young life filled with so much potential.…

Have you been in a situation where there was a lack of hope? Where the only thing that could make the situation better was a miracle? This very thing happened during the summer of 2013 to me and my family. This miracle occurred after a series of changed plans, numerous hospital visits, and hope for a blessing. Through many individuals and circumstances, God changed what I call "my family" and taught the importance of trusting His perfect plan and being willing to go where He leads.…

Schleiermacher’s Understanding of Prayer To understand the mind of Friedrich Schleiermacher and his thought on prayer we must first understand his background. Schleiermacher is an interesting figure mainly because he embraces many aspects of the enlightenment. Yet, there is also a side of him that rejects many aspects of it as well. His relationship to the enlightenment is dialectical in that he raises some ideas of the enlightenment through different concedes that he has.…

Let me start by offering a little prayer that I say a lot and has been very helpful to me. It is called the serenity prayer. I’m not here to discuss your religious beliefs, but it is a prayer that I use as a way of reminding myself I can’t control everything nor should I try. Trying to control people, places and things will probably only lead to frustration and unhappiness. Try saying it once with me, God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.…
