At the start of my college composition class, I did not know much about writing papers; the only paper I knew how to write was a five-paragraph essay but over the course of the semester I learned to write a literary narrative, a texture analysis, a research summary and a research paper. Writing those papers helped improve my writing and writing habits. My writing style had grown, my grammar has improved, and I have learned that making an outline help organize and manage time better.
The first paper I had to write was a literary narrative that had to be at least 1,000 words. At first, it seemed like a lot because I did not know how to write it but after learning how to break it into paragraphs it was easy to write. After re-reading my literally

I had no idea what a textual analysis was let alone write a paper that at least had to be 1,200 words. I did not know where to start or how to go about until after I turned it in. After readings, my textual analysis paper, I saw a lot of errors, it was disorganized, and did not answer the “so what” question. If I re-wrote the paper say for the first time I would make an outline. With this paper, I spent way too much time trying to figure out what I was going to write about and how it was going to fit into the paper. By making an outline it would help organize my thought, make sure I have all the requirements and manage my time better making it easier for me to write the paper. After writing this paper I learned how important and helpful an outline …show more content…
I was overwhelmed by the length and nervous that I would not make the requirements, but after making an outline and taking all that I have learned from previous papers gave me the confidence and courage to write the paper. This was the first time I had to write a research paper. I did not know what it was going to be like but with help, I found out the means to writing it. From this paper, I have also learned how to use citations in text and on a work cited page to give proper credit to the writer of which I used the information from. I had to write a paper before that used a work cited page but I did not have to use in-text citation so learning how to use citations was not too

Have you seen the word ‘woot’ used by someone online to indicate that they are excited about something? I have, but I have also seen ‘woot’ used as text language, particularly as an acronym for “waste of our time”. The Concise Oxford Dictionary, however, has recently included ‘woot’, defining it as an exclamation of triumph or success (“‘Retweet’ and ‘woot’ Make Oxford Dictionary Debut”, 2011). The word ‘woot’ has been used to express enthusiasm, victory, desire, and irritation in music, television, games, online, and as acronyms. The meaning is not the same for all.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…

Introduction You Should Be Here is the second mixtape released by singer Kehlani on April of 2015. The mixtape is made up of 15 songs in which Kehlani channels a mixture of longing and uncertainty about both, romantic and familial, relationships in her life. The mixtape’s cover sparked my intreset as it was a painted portrait of Kehlani on top of a building. For the purpose of this paper, I will attempt to answer this research question: How does Kehlani’s mixtape cover further embolden and highlight the mixtape’s themes? I will be using textual analysis and relying on my observations, to emphaize how an artist’s album cover is critical in predicting what their album’s main themes are.…

Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. Although I gained much knowledge over the past few months I did struggle with a few things such as formulating a written thesis statement expressing my main point in the composition, producing rough drafts preliminary to the final draft, applying transition strategies to organize the entire composition cohesively and coherently, and overall practicing various prewriting strategies, such as thinking, brainstorming, listing, and freewriting.…

The process of describing a piece of art through an analytical context requires that you focus on one aspect of the piece at a time. These categories from which you can describe the piece of art are line, shape, color, texture, and composition. The piece figure of a woman from around 3500 BCE can be presented and taken apart piece by piece to show it to the reader. First is the use of line within the piece. The figure is that of a woman who is relatively thin but has large curving hips that are spit down the middle by a dark line that emphasis her legs which gently curve toward the knees.…

My History As A Writer Throughout my lifetime I have come to love and absolutely hate writing. The reasoning of the assignment or topic has a lot to do with my affinity and disgust. Although learning new things, like writing, was something that I loved doing in elementary school, that all changed when it was daily implemented. As an art form I recently come to love writing down my thoughts, ideas, opinions and stories.…

Throughout the entire book a sense of separation is woven throughout. A main conflict and theme in The Help by Kathryn Stockett is racism. The white people manipulate the colored people, they are their maids, and they are merely seen as the help. The colored men and women are not viewed as humans with feelings and valid opinions just as objects and people that can cook and clean. So when people think that they are better than another person because of their race, their skin color, or their social class there will be contention and problems among people.…
