For this assignment, I choose to analyze a Kia Niro commercial starring Melissa McCarthy. After my analysis I was able to find at least seven sociological terms that were discussed during class: material culture, subculture, socialization, values and norms, reflection theory, and ideology. The first thing I noticed was material culture, which can be defined as something made by a human even if it can’t be touched. Even though the commercial isn’t a physical thing, is was made by humans. After watching the video a few times, I was able to recognize both subculture and socialization.
