Textual Analysis Of Ethos Pathos Logos

The picture above to me really represents two forms of argument, one known as logos (logic), and the other known as pathos (emotions or people). I believe what Apple is trying to do here is one of many things. First, it uses not necessarily sophisticated language, but that of which an educated person would primarily use over that, of say, a very uneducated person when it says “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”, therefore in my eyes appealing to, but not limited to the American economic middle to upper classes. But on the other hand, it also appeals to the lower to middle class of Americans when it says “Introducing Apple II, the personal computer”. The word “personal” implying that anyone can own and effectively use one, it’s not just limited to just the rich, famous, and/or wealthy. I really love the way this ad uses logic to appeal to not only one set group of people, but many different groups. Like was said before, the verbal usage of more educated speech appeals to non coincidentally the upper middle to higher economic …show more content…
It would catch your eye when you're flipping through a magazine or watching television, etc. I believe this also gives a subliminal allusion to the “simplicity” of usage of the computer. The simplicity of the text and single image of one red apple on a white background just appeals to everyone, not just upper class, and not just the average consumer. The apple does also give a bright glossy look about it which could suggest that Apple only uses “the cream of the crop” or the best parts when constructing their products, and also build high quality products that are not only pleasing and captivating to the eye but also easy to use. The gloss effect also is very appealing to the eye, because of the obvious fact that it is easier for people to see brightness better than

    1) Baldwin letter: Letter is one the oldest kind of written form addressed to a person or organization. At the beginning of a letter essay, the writer will specifically state the subject that he/she wrote to, but actually the audience can be more than that. For example, James Baldwin’s letter, he wrote to his nephew on the one hundredth anniversary of the emancipation as the title tell us. But I think he wanted to tell not only to his nephew, but also the younger generation to love their race bestowed on them. Letter is a personal message so it will be much easier to appeal to pathos than other approaches.…

Apple products are everywhere, including the box office and small screen. " In the last decade (2001-today), Apple-branded products appeared in one-third of all number one films at the US box office, " (Sauer, 2011). This statistic is insane and evident its impact on the culture. People are affected by anything they see and watch, and seeing enough Apple products can make one believe they are insanely popular even if they are not.…

Apple believes in things such as challenging the status quo and create a strong brand for their company so that the consumer feel connected with the company. The quote that stuck out to me from this concept was that “people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” This quote encapsulates the entire theory of the golden circle. Instead of focusing on what you do, focus on why you do it because that is what connects with consumers and creates a positive working…

Drug use is becoming a growing problem that needs to be contained and prevented with the help of an expansion of the organization LAPP (Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program) branching out into its own center called EPLAPP, (Extensive Progression of Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program). To cut back on the drug use and deaths in Licking County, EPLAPP will provide users and abusers with the resources they need to sober up, cutting back on the drug use rate which will cut back the number of deaths. With the creation of EPLAPP, the services being provided will be more in depth and help some with more employees/volunteers to help addicts, along with other resources, such as financial aid, counseling, and sober living facilities. In “Father and Son” Wu old model is represented by Apple and their closed off business practices. While in “Project Classroom Makeover” Davidson’s old model is based on reading, writing, and arithmetic (Davidson 60). With Apple, the old model is its idea of choosing what the consumer will receive by limiting what the consumer can change in their product and what types of services will be offered by their product (Wu 5540, 546). This old model is not the greatest as it limits the consumer on content they receive and how they can in how they can customize their product. This gives Apple control over what becomes popular in society.…

One article points out that “a key part of Apple’s approach to products is that it deliberately creates devices that will appeal to the broadest possible market. However, many people don’t seem to understand that Apple doesn’t chase niche markets. All they know is that someone else in the industry has a phone with a feature that Apple doesn’t include” (Moltz). Therefore, if Apple wants to continue increasing their profits, they need to develop more products that appeal to a different kind of market or even a market that hasn’t been addressed or provided for. There is no doubt that sales would increase if there were more differentiation within Apple products as well as an increase in their overall market.…

Commercials were simplistic but visually pleasing and this enhanced the beauty and simplicity of the design and features of the iPad, exactly what Steve Jobs himself loved about Apple products. This is also mirrored in their shop designs featuring simple but sophisticated look just displaying the Apple products promoting their features. More recently, the iPad has been placed in most good computer electronic stores around the world and of course Apples’ own e-commerce website. It is now as easy to purchase the iPad as it is to buy shoes.…

Apple Inc. is the world’s most valuable publicly traded company, with over 72 million Macs and 600 million iOS devices sold to date, and over one million people visiting an Apple retail store each day of which there are over four hundred spread throughout fourteen countries (Stangel). But more than these impressive numbers, Apple has evolved into a household brand with a religious following. Karl Marx describes religion in a utilitarian sense, as, “…The sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people” (Marx). Without a doubt, Apple has evolved into an opium for the masses through their ability to educate the public about personal computing, in both practical…
