Analysis of inscription (RIB 1713) Vindolanda Inscription (RIB 1713) relates to a sandstone funerary headstone used as a building-stone found amongst debris associated with the east gate of Vindolanda fort in 1818 commemorating the life of Cornelius Victor (RIB 1713, Funerary inscription for Cornelius Victor, 2014). There is a degree of ambiguity in relation to his military position as a senior centurion. Victor is listed on the inscription as a singularis consularis ‘governor 's bodyguard’ either mounted (eques) or infantry (pedes), seconded from an auxiliary unit; he also served as a courier and special emissary (Glossary of military terms, 2014). If indeed he was a special emissary it supports the argument of a senior centurions’ position.…

The artist uses an afocal emphasis because there are multiple stories going on and even the smallest details have some significance. For example, there are forbidden apples that are guarded by snake and there are women playing music and s head of a goddess at the top, and on the back each person is holding something different and not making it really clear who the hero is and his significance. The artist also uses the repetition of swirls and pillars at the top that go around the border of the vase and other back the wreath-style along the border which are used as decorative ornamentation with a simple repetitive rhythm throughout the vase. Another example, is that above the tomb there are three sets of feather-like patterns that are the same. However, the rhythm give the painting a sense of separate artistry, because there are several situations happening in the center of the vase and then when you travel farther up, it is just patterns and swirls filling in the gap so the artwork feels somewhat disconnected and…

For instance, the yellow and orange provides light to the composition and also add a visual depth to it because both colors reflect the scheme of a peaceful night. Cindy had used a style different than one she was used to, paying less attention to the tiny details but more so portraying the bigger message of the images. One of the most powerful images was of a male survivor who was holding an infant who had not survived. The colors portrayed that the male was indeed alive, but that the baby had not made it. This was an extremely powerful image to see because it expressed the depth and the gravity of the situation. The other paintings portrayed images of the boat before it had caught fire, the sinking of the boat, as well as those who died and had washed up on the beach.…

This painting shows these themes because the artist have painted what they saw but included more and less. Something that these painters include are more idealized colors to the stereotype of a perfect sunset--as shown in my picture--to add romance and aestheticism. Some things that they, the painters, exclude are the real things in life such as the demented part of nature and how the world really looks. These painters don’t add the ugly things in life like dead animals or conflict between nature and mammals such as humans. These feature are included and excluded to show a more aesthetic and or idealized version of life and nature.…

The reasoning behind the mix of styles Pontormo’s painting shows may have stemmed from many different sources. In particular, the historical and cultural events surrounding Italy in the early 1500s could have been a factor in the departure from the classicism and naturalism of the High Renaissance. The discovery of Heliocentrism by Copernicus in 1512 was a major deviation from what people had believed to be true for centuries. This dramatic shift in normal thought could have prompted an inclination towards more atypical thinking that conflicts with classic social and artistic foundations, which would explain the stylistic shift introduced by Pontormo. The classical style that populated art before Mannerism was characterized by its harmony,…

Also, the mixture of warm colors on top combined with primary and secondary colors give the painting a delicate effect particularly the three green brush strokes as it adds even more mystery to the painting. Furthermore, the diagonal lines that shape the floor and the barriers of the bridge and the curved lines on the water make a combination of energy and endlessness at the same time because the side of where the scared looking person is, looks completely different from where the water, which is what perhaps reflects the degree of anxiety that the scared looking person was suffering in that particular…
