She is driving down the highway going to her mother’s house. They haven’t seen each other in months. The girl gets a text from her mother, “Where are you?” In a matter of time, the girl picks up her phone and reads the text, taking her eyes off the road. Replying, she types, “Almo-”. The text doesn’t send. The car smashes violently into another car with such high power which causes both cars to skid off the highway forcefully slamming into the brick wall standing high off the ground. Airbags pop out in both cars, but it’s too late, the drivers and passengers lie there, asleep, forever.

Cell phone use while driving causes around 1.6 million crashes each year. About 330,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving.

Some ways are issuing cops to sit watch on sides of roads and highways, putting up billboards on main roads, putting the phone on silent, putting the phone on do not disturb, and locating the phone out of reach. Drivers can also use Siri to send texts and make calls without using their hands if they have an IPhone. Voice text is another option as well as having the car connected to their phone. Connecting the car to the phone is simple as a driver can press a button and make a command. It will complete that command through the car not requiring any hands-on use. If someone is a bystander in the car of a texter, they should tell them to stop texting and focus on the road. But the easiest way to prevent texting and driving is to just not text at all. It won’t create any problems if drivers can ignore the cell phone or technology device. Distracted drivers by texting and calling could injure many people. It could fatally or harshly do damage to themselves, passengers, and other cars that were following the rules and not texting. Texting and driving can cause somebody fatality or a bad injury. Airbags can’t always help the injured person survive all of the time, but it will sometimes prevent further harm and injuries. Usually after an accident produced by a careless driver the car will suffer a lot of damage and is sometimes crushed and squeezed very badly which can cause the driver to be crushed and possibly break a few bones or even become paralyzed. From a survey, ⅘ students have seen billboards on cell phone use while moving a vehicle of some sort. There are some commercials that appear on the television that show the results of texting and driving. Many ways of demonstrating how texting and driving turns out include pictures of accidents that have occurred.
