63% of Americans are logging on to Facebook daily and 40% log on more than once each day, according to blog.degreed.com. Studies have shown that social media can be addictive due to distraction and boredom relief. While the public might believe that smartphones and social media can make life easier, studies however can prove that it might be making life more difficult for the future.Especially for teenagers,the actions that are taking place will determine the future that is waiting for them. Some of these actions may have positive but mostly negative influences. Actions will always carry consequences, whether they are smart or unintentional.

Texting can now be seen as a form of communication. In an article by Zawn Villines called, “How Texting Changes Communication” she declares that “Consequently, people who text a lot may be more uncomfortable with in-person communication and may even use their cell phones to communicate with people who are in their presence.” The results of preferring texting can be bad for future work or school and classroom presentations.The communication will not be as well as those who prefer face-to-face conversations.Today’s teenagers can send each other nonsense and text all day but when it comes to presentations or group work, most of them are sometimes even too shy to speak.Teens have gotten used to the fact that phones and technology will always be there for them when in need of interacting with someone.School is not the only place where teenagers are involved with poor communication.Home is also a place where is in need of communication,without socializing there will be no food at the dinner table.Teenagers of this century prefer to lock themselves in their room on social media than to watch a movie with the family on a Friday night.In many ways,communication can affect a persons life if they have trouble communicating with their surrounding friends,family,or even strangers.
