Education is being affected day by day as the internet and mobile phones are blocking students from expanding their intelligence (Crystal, 2008). Although David Crystal was not against texting, he discussed several prophecies in the beginning of the reading, including: children’s ability to spell, use proper grammar, transfer these habits into their schoolwork leading to horrible outcomes in exams, and several more. However, David Crystal made a good point that people think children can’t spell since they leave certain letters out in words while texting to be “cool,” but in order for children to leave letters out in a word, they must know that it is there in the first place in order to “leave it out.” Texting is a great source of communication to quickly get a hold of someone to exchange important details, nonetheless, becoming addicted to texting, above 5 hours a day, could be a huge problem that could interfere with one’s life. The use of technology in classrooms today can be somewhat beneficial towards today’s youth, yet it can also have a very dark side. For example, we can just pick up a phone and simply say, “Google, what year was The University of South Alabama established?” and Google would answer with, “The University of South Alabama was founded in 1964.” within seconds. It’s beneficial because if someone needs to know the answer to something quickly it can come in handy; however, it can come off as lazy; therefore modern-day technology is taking away, what should be, our common traits.…

Txtn or texting Michaela Cullington’s article entitled “Does Texting Affect Writing” presents an argument against the way we write and the way we text. The article argues that as often as we text and the way we text changes the way we write. The position that the writer takes on in this issue is exaggerating the effects that texting has on our life by stating in the beginning of his article, “its taking over our lives” (Cullington, 791). The thesis states “it has become a concern of doctors, parents, and teaches alike.…

Real life does not always provide this kind of space, but the internet does” (Turkle 493). Yes the internet does help children express themselves and experiment with things but doesn’t mean that it's a good thing. The writer shows evidence of both and argument and no favor for either side but, for the things he likes about texting she states, "Teenagers have, for example, created an entirely new language — one that uses abbreviations and symbols instead of words, does not require punctuation, and uses short, incomplete phrases throughout the entire conversation. It’s a way of speaking that is a language in and of itsel.
