Texting and Driving to be Illegal Texting and driving has always been a huge problem in society. Teenagers and adults have become less aware of their surroundings and more worried about what text message they have received and from whom. I believe that everyone in this world is affected by this due to the fact that their child, family member or friend’s life could be taken from them unexpectedly. Is everything that means the most worth giving up? Who would want to be the person who receives a call about a child being in a car accident, pronounced dead at the scene because they were texting and driving or killed because another driver was texting and driving? Five seconds is the minimal amount that a drivers who texts takes away from the road. That equals the size of a football field if driving at 55 miles per hour (Texting Thumb Bands). Teenagers have been careless of others while driving because they just want to get to where they are going and not worry about how others are driving around them. Most states have moved to tiered or graduated licensing programs that help ease young drivers into the responsibilities and challenges of driving.
