Texting and driving, also referred to as texting while driving, is one of the most dangerous activities individuals engage in daily without realizing the severity of the consequences that could follow their actions. Technology has a huge role to play in distracted driving. However, not only does distracted driving put the user in danger, but also the individuals who surround the user. Despite the enforcement of laws against distracted driving, there are people who continue to drive while distracted, adding on to the overwhelming car accident statistics.People aren't taking texting and driving serious and they need to start.
Technology has continuously grown over the years, unaware that it is also giving us more things to be distracted by when we are driving. For instance everyone has some sort of technology they use in their vehicle. It could be as simple as a GPS, bluetooth audio, auxiliary cord, making phone calls, sending text messages, opening snapchats, and as you can see the list for distractions just

Mostly anyone would tell you a text isn't worth a life. Then why do they still proceed to simultaneously text and drive, continuously risking it all? Some people just have that important message where they have to reply at that very moment, others might do it because they think they can manage simple multitasking, and some are just stubborn and want to rebel. Fifty-five percent of young drivers say that it’s easy to text while driving. These statistics are unfortunately showing us how much those who think they can text and drive are putting those who are innocent bystanders at risk because they are distracted and unaware of the road.
In conclusion, texting and driving produces accidents, injuries, and death. Modern technology has everyone, all ages, hooked on using it 24/7. Losing a loved one over a text, phone call, or snapchat, is not worth it, nor are the lives of others nearby. Precautions of texting and driving should be taken more
