Purpose
This is a progress report on our research on textbook expenses in college and student attitudes toward textbook prices.

Summary
On February 12, 2016, Sam Gonzales, Vice President for Student Affairs at UTSA, authorized and recognized our study for the affects of expensive textbooks on college students. We have completed our first two tasks for our project: Acquiring a basic understanding of expenses of textbooks in college throughout the United States and acquiring a basic understanding of expenses of textbooks and how it affects students at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Our study is currently on schedule, and we expect to submit a recommendation report on March 22, 2016.

Introduction
On February 16, 2016, the Vice President for Student Affairs at UTSA, authorized and recognized our study for the affects of expensive textbooks on college students. The Vice President is very interested in learning the results and how we can solve any potential problems or struggles discovered by the results to help students here at UTSA.
Several students at UTSA complain every semester when they have to spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks, especially after spending thousands in tuition. Why are certain textbooks affordable and some of them expensive? Students will sometimes decide not to order textbooks because they can’t afford them, which can cause students to not do well since they don’t have the required material.
