Our presentation was titled “Cyber Threats to Mobile Devices,” and its main focus was to be able to deliberately inform our audience about the many cyber threats they can possibly encounter with their cell phones. Further, we wanted to promote awareness and provide five easy tips to decrease their chances of encountering those cyber threats. Throughout this document, I will be analyzing and reflecting on the strengths and weakness of our presentation. Further, I will compare and contrast our team strategy with that of other teams taking in consideration six elements: audience, intent, message, content, visuals, and nonverbal delivery.

Analyze the Audience
When brainstorming for our topic, we analyze our audience interests and needs; therefore, we decided to present on an interesting topic that could appeal to everyone’s interest. Therefore, we survey our audience before our presentation in order to find out our audience’s needs, interest and level of

Further, we decided to stand up in a manner that the presentation flow naturally and in order. In addition, we decided not to pass around the clicker as it was a distraction during other presentations, so I managed the slide transitions. When analyzing individual body language, I consider that we all made good eye contact, had good hand motions, and engaged with the audience. However, I do think that we could have benefitted from a better use of floor space; we all stayed very attached to our spots, so we could have definitely move a lot more to engage the audience. Another positive thing about our group is that we were all paying attention to each other and agreeing with each other’s point with nonverbal motions. The most challenging nonverbal for me was the use of my hands when I was not presenting or in change of the clicker. Overall, I really think we did a great job as a

Expertise, or simply a hobby, what matters, in this case, is the passion we have for a specific interest. I decided to share with the class a recent interest I have for Salsa dancing. I enjoy the rhythm that allows me to embrace both upper and lower body movement, with that Latin flare. For that reason, the purpose for the assignment was to incorporate a how to basic dance step routine that could roughly define Salsa dancing. I am quite content that I communicated primarily through my hand gestures.…

When I was young I was a boy scout. During my time in scouts I read the book Hatchet, a story about a boy who is in a plane crash and has to survive alone in the wilderness. Being a boy scout the story grabbed my attention, a boy about my age surviving alone using the same techniques I was learning. This gave the book a personal meaning to me. The book made me want to continue as a scout, as it gave meaning to what I was doing.…

Since I didn’t have an outline with me on stage, I was basing my entire speech off my memory. My second year of high school was difficult for me as I had taken on my first AP class and I had learned that my aunt had been diagnosed with cancer. That year took a toll on my grades, overall GPA, and class ranking, which all went down because I focused all of my attention solely on my one AP class. I would also be constantly worried about my aunt and I would catch myself drifting off just thinking about her, hoping that she was okay. Junior year, I was determined to obtain a higher GPA and a better class ranking, and as a result I would skip out on family events when I had homework to do…

Journal #7: Reframing When I came across the topic of reframing in this week’s readings, I immediately thought of myself, and the way I tend to handle difficult and/or stressful situations. Unfortunately, when something doesn’t go my way, I tend to become irritated and ask myself why I have such bad luck. Recently, however, I have noticed myself reframing issues, even when I had never heard of this as a topic before reading chapter 10. For instance, in the beginning of the school year at USC, I was denied a waiver for the USC health insurance plan, which ended up costing me $600. I was initially pretty angry that I would have to pay this amount, because I did have insurance, just not insurance that qualified to allow me to obtain a waiver.…

Taking your AP Composition English class has been a frightening yet successful challenge. Personally I have always struggled with the English language since it is not my native language. Freshman year I was denied into the honors English program as was the case sophomore year. In my college prep classes I noticed I was not making any noticeable gains, so that was when I realized I had to challenge myself by taking your course. The rumors stated by current seniors made the class seem impossible.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

While speaking, I have always stood very still in one place. There were some instances during the semester where I would make motions with my hands while presenting, however I still stood very still. I think I had a hard time improving this skill because I was always too nervous to move. Luckily, I have improved on my public speaking apprehension, so from now on I should be able to focus on improving my nonverbal delivery skills. Overall, communication class has helped me improve as a public speaker, which will be greatly beneficial in the years to come.…

My 3-practicum placements have provided me with different, but great learning experiences. I was able to practice what I have been learning in my other college courses in my practicums. In all my practicums, I was able to build positive relationships with each student and teacher-supervisors that I interacted with. I have worked in a grade 4, grade 1, and now a grade 3 classroom. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
