Text Messages with Taylor Two people meet in all sorts of ways, Taylor Booker’s parents met in a funny way. Her dad, Mark, was twenty two at the time when he jumped out in front of a car of recent high school graduates. The driver, Lisa, slammed on her brakes, looking at the guy that she was going to fall in love with. Mark and Lisa stayed in Salmon, Idaho as a happy couple and had their only child, Taylor, on March 30, 2000 in Salmon. Mark and Lisa never married but have been together since before Taylor was born. She was enrolled into Bryan Elementary School for her first years where she excelled at the top of her class and had a great time. When grade school ended, she moved up to middle school at Lakes Magnet School. Taylor said that this was possible the worst time of her life, “Middle school hit me like a bus”. She had switched schools and had lost a large amount of friends because they went to other middle schools. As each day went on, she felt like her life got worse. She would skip from friend group to the next, trying to find a group of friends that had her back. She searched and searched and never found an answer. So she decided to try what every middle school girl does to make friends; volleyball. That only lasted a for a little bit, it was not that she was bad, in fact she was really good actually really good at it. She just did not like the girls there and her depression continued. She became as sad as bird without wings, her life felt meaningless. Then in eighth grade she met a kind girl name Sarah, they immediately became best friends. Sarah really helped with cheering Taylor up, but the main reason was Connor Franta. Franta is the author of Work in Progress, Taylor said that this book turned helped her so much. She stopped caring about what everyone thought about her and she just lived her life the way that she is, any people could decide whether or not to like her. This shows that Taylor is open to change and is willing to work hard and try new things to better herself. She is nice to those who do not like her and she is nice to her closest friends
