This week’s movie was Run Lola Run by Tom Tykwer. In this film, there was many alternative realities ranging from the main characters Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) and Lola (Franka Potente) dying in one or vice versa with them living with circumstances being determined by the tiniest of details. The reason why they’re in this predicament is because of their, Manni and Lola, daring attempt to transfer money from a guy they know. Greetings classmates, A 3 mile run from my house is a historic place that was settled by the Timucua Indians, French and Spanish explorers. The run takes place on mostly shaded sidewalk with some dappled sunlight. Occasionally, I will have my iPhone with me for music and tracking purposes but sometimes I don’t bring it. There are rarely other runners when I run. The run there and back is a time of reflection to gain focus and clarity about the coming events.…

Before I arrived at the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus on August 28, I vowed to myself that I would never run cross country for a school again because I never had the opportunity to practice on wooded trails, rather than concrete. But that changed one day, when I explored the campus and realized that there were wooded trails intertwining in every which way in the dark green forest lined with salmon berries and blackberry bushes that were surrounding the Upper Empire Lake. My dream has always been running in the forest, and afterwards swimming in a crystal clear, clean, deep, and refreshing lake after a long run. The Southwestern Oregon Community College Campus would provide superior running trails and a lake to swim in for my dream to come true. Only a few days later, after I explored the campus, I accidentally bumped into the cross country coach, Anthony Collins.…

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. If you’re part of more than one sport, it’s natural to choose a favorite.…

Throughout my four years of high school, the seaside community of Narragansett, Rhode Island, has encouraged and nurtured the growth of its youthful inhabitants as students and individuals. The supportive environment and abundant opportunities available for students to pursue their passions and help others consequently benefits the community as a whole. As an athlete, and more specifically, a runner, I have aspired to motivate and encourage young athletes to enjoy the fun and friendships that emerge from being a part of a sports team. During the summer, I volunteered at the Summer Youth Track Series at Narragansett High School. Eager smiles painted the faces of the joyous young runners lining up in heats, ready to run as fast as they can in the 100 meter sprint, throw as far as they can in the turbo javelin, and jump as far as they can in the long jump.…

Going to State for cross country is one of my favorite things that I have done in my athletic high school career. It took hard work to get there and when we finally did that it was eventful and fun and was one of the best trips that I have ever had. It started out way back in June when a group of girls got together and went for a run. At that time we only ran about 3-4 miles or so, but by the middle of the cross country season we were running up to 6 miles everyday. We trained all throughout the summer increasing our mileage every week so that by the beginning of the season were were ready to race.…

Benjamin Franklin shared a wise piece of information many years ago when he said, “Think of these things: whence you came, where you are going, and to whom you must account.” Although these words with published in Poor Richard’s Almanac nearly three hundred years ago, they can still resonate with the reader just as much as in 1732. In one sentence, Franklin teaches a great life lesson that is still applicable today. Never forgetting where one came from, keeping an eye on their destination, and considering who they answer to is a crucial part of leading a life of integrity.…

On a daily basis, I am asked why I run. When people think of running, they think of absolute pain and distress. However, when I think of running, I think of freedom and strength.
