The Gulf Costal Plains are important because they provide oil and lumber and their famous sea food, politically this area is important because our state capital is located here along with the chambers of our state legislation. This is economically important because the value of the oil directly contributes to our economy which could cause unemployment and economic turmoil. Meanwhile the Interior Lowlands is big on their cattle ranching and other livestock. This is important because of the dairy production and the meat production which boost our economy. The Great Plains are vastly focused on their agriculture and produce wheat and cotton. This industry is valuable for our economy due to the fact that we have a large amount of cotton field which helps produce goods for our market. Lastly the Basin and Range Province region is prominent in cattle and cotton and most important, trade with Mexico. This trading is valuable due to the fact that we receive goods that we don’t natively have and is also politically important due to North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). All three play a major role in the weather and climate throughout the state in different ways. All of these influences effect the warm, wet climate of the coastal region as well as the dry, dusty areas in the west. Weather and climate observations over the last 30 years have shown a general warming trend along the Gulf Coast, as well as periods of drought and heavy precipitation.…

In railroads, steam, steal transformation, gasoline combustion, electricity, market nationalizing and oil industry. All these transformations have helped defined Texas economy over the last 150 years. Cotton, being the oldest crops has cultivated the cotton industry. Cotton production has a played a major role Texas farmers. Among another contribution to the economy is the Ranching production. This is something that significantly has been important in Texas, will remain important and continue to grow. Most Latinos since the 19th century immigrated to Texas to work in the emerging cotton, farming production for a better opportunity. Since the 19th century the Latino population have constituted a great part of different cities in Texas. The oil and gas industry has transformed our social and economy of Texas. It has been a rapid industrialization, companies for example, Gulf Coast, Magnolia Petroleum, Exxon, Chevron are just a few that have increased production since 1929. The oil itself has had its fluctuations in years, example seen on Table 1.2 in the textbook. It’s predicted that this year 2017 oil and gas will slowly improve in the market. Furthermore, creating more jobs in the oil field regulates the economy for everyone. In addition, Nafta is an international trade agreement that was signed in 1992, for a free trade zone for trade between Mexico and Texas, that is very important for Texas. I believe more and more people will continue to come to Texas for a better opportunity and contribute to our economy. Not sure how easy this will be for them with everything that we are facing with all the political…

According to the video “American Southwest: Are We Running Dry?” the main reason for the droughts is that the subtropical dry zone is enlarging and moving towards the north (Thebaut, J. 2008). This is a dramatic change in climate and hydrological cycle moving already dry regions into areas with some moisture. Essentially, the subtropics are dry because the airflow pushes moisture out and the areas with higher elevation combine moisture making it wetter (Seager, R. 2011). Warm air holds more moisture but the less airflow the drier it will get.…

Citrus, sugar cane, and rice are the major specialty crops grown on the Gulf Coast. Sugar cane is grown primarily in Louisiana and Texas. [Other than southern Florida] this is the only place in the 48 contiguous states where sugar cane can be grown, because of its need for abundant rainfall (over 50 inches/year) and its sensitivity to frost. Mild winters also make the Gulf Coast region a major supplier of vegetables to the northeastern US in the winter months.…

Texas oil is not very expensive which means that people pay less, and since the state is very huge it makes easier for cars to get around. People pay less for oil, making their life very suitable for them, and they don’t have to spend a lot. The economy of Texas, which is the GDP or Gross Domestic Product, has exported $264.7 billion a year. That’s a lot considering that Texas is all the way in the south, and surrounded by dessert, but it also has a large exportation of cotton. Cotton is produce in Texas, and its how it gets it money from other states, and how the United States keeps their economy stable enough. Texas is also responsible for the production of Watermelons, Grapefruit, and Cantaloupes. Some think that it’s really impossible to grow fruits, but it isn’t since it has its own reservoir called the Lower Colorado River Authority. It has the name Colorado since it reaches Colorado, but the headquarters are in Austin Texas, meaning that Texas is responsible for the filter water that the Colorado River produces, and the company gets paid to keep the reservoir in condition so that any contamination doesn’t reach the rest of the river. The LCRA is also responsible for the electricity that runs the city around it. Texas has two main energy factors electricity, and oil two things that the modern U.S needs. These two have kept Texans in a good condition that even the poverty rate is low…

Living in Texas is not what people portray it to be. I have never been to a rodeo, I have never owned a pair of cowgirl boots, and “Howdy” is nowhere in my vocabulary. However, I do have big hair and have a slight Southern accent. I live in a big suburban city called Arlington. I love my state and my city. I think that being a Southern belle has shaped me into being the woman I am becoming but I do not think that where I came from plays a significant role in my upbringing. I believe that it was the people who have raised me that have helped me become the person I am today.…

Then I went to Mexico and felt the warm ocean breeze roll off the waves and thought man it would be tremendous to be somewhere comparable to this all the time. The resort my family stayed at was exquisite and it had a humongous pool. However, the beach was rocky and not enjoyable to relax on causing my family to go around to different beaches that were quite a bit superior. There was this one time where out of nowhere it started storming forcing all the people on the beach crammed in under this canopy. The canopy was an outdoor restaurant so while all the people on the beach waited for the storm to die down, my parents bought us nachos that were super savory. That was another commodity that was absolutely phenomenal was the food. There was this other restaurant my family and I went to that served authentic Mexican food that was superior to the ones in America. They just kept bringing us food and it was wonderful. Nevertheless, my family thought the waiters would never let us leave the restaurant. Mexico was also the place I tried actual coconut not the shredded type people buy in the store and it was marvelous. To me, even the plane ride was incredible and an abundance of people doesn’t enjoy planes, but it was a new experience and I loved it. Now not being able to travel is almost…
