Typically, to run for office in Texas, the prices in a campaign usually go hand in hand with how much a candidate is paying per vote. 1 “ But Hurd, a Republican, spent big for that win, shelling out $29.12 per vote, among the highest in the state. Gallego, a Democrat, spent $15.75 per vote.” Many candidates in Texas pay a lot of money for their votes to ensure their nomination. Roy Owens, from the Texas House, district 146 spent $70,805.43 in total for his election. Per vote, he spent $61.52. Will Hurd spent a whopping $3,000,000, which resulting in $29.12. Clearly, many candidates spend a lot of money in order to make sure they get votes.
