As the season of fall approaches here at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, I have reached the middle of my fall semester as a freshmen college student. Midterms are approaching and I am pulling my hair out due to the sleepless nights and long hours of studying for midterms. There are some students are planning activities for Halloween while I on the other hand am preparing my study guide for my Microeconomic midterm. The closest to a break I would have from school would be Thanksgiving break, and during the break I would return home and begin working for my family. All the stress I am feeling about school could be due to my unorganized school schedule and responsibility of renting an apartment. In my opinion, the best way to involve yourself with any university is to join an organization in the school. Joining a school organization would not only benefit you academically and personally, you will also be able to make friends very quickly. During my fall semester, I joined a business fraternity called Delta Sigma Pi. Joining Delta Sigma Pi has brought to light my strengths as a student. For example, I was about to showcase my leadership abilities by becoming an officer for my pledge group. As Community Service Chair, I am in charge of finding volunteer opportunities, making sure that all the pledges are able to attend the event, and recording the service hours for each pledge. In addition to being a leader for my pledge group, I was able to associate with other members who have the same academic interest as me which is a great way to network. Being a pledge for Delta Sigma Pi has helped me reduce the stress I feel in my classes because I was able to get academic assistance on classes that I am struggling on. Being in a business fraternity has

Right now, October 2017, about six weeks into sophomore year, and I feel like I’m under a massive amount of stress. College tends to be the topic up for discussion, so my parents expect me to have B+’s and higher in the grade book. Also, my grandfather’s were both in band, so a requirement for me is to learn and memorize four pages of music, then learn another three pages for All Region and re-auditions in the middle of November, and remember about fortyseven spots on the football field. Feeling the pressure by parents and friends to accomplish multiple different tasks can be extremely overwhelming. A large amount of people around the world know and understand the fear, stress, and idea of trying to succeed at many objectives at one time that…

I began my undergraduate degree at Washburn University as a Communications major. During my first semester, I joined Zeta Tau Alpha; through this organization, I was able to become involved within the community through philanthropy. As a fraternity, we focused on raising awareness for breast cancer and promoting breast cancer education to women within the community with events such as Think Pink Week, during which we held multiple fundraisers, handed out ribbons and pamphlets, and made blankets for those suffering to use while taking radiation or chemotherapy treatments. Outside of this philanthropy, one of my favorite times of service with my fraternity was when we held a game night for the residents at a senior care home during the holiday season. This stands out in my mind because it led me to realize that greatest way to serve is often through time and fellowship.…
