Personal health records (PHR) enable patients to access their healthcare information in a secure environment, increasing patient engagement in medical care. After several hours of researching PHR I was able to locate a PHR that I could recommend to my future clients. The PHR that I would recommend would be a tethered PHR. A tethered PHR is linked to a specific health care organization's electronic health record (EHR) system or to a health plan's information system. According to Vydra, Cuaresma, Kretovics, and Bose-Brill (2015) a tethered PHR, also known as patient portals, allow patients to access relevant medical information from their provider.
