Some parents complain about how schools test too much or lay too much consideration in testing their students, which has negative effects in the learning environment. President George W. The No child left behind requires schools to be tested in math and English to assess where they rank among other schools in the country (Bidwell, 2015). Common core testing is a part of that which is federally mandated testing measuring American student’s knowledge compared to other countries and other students within the country (Bidwell, 2015). Some argue funding for these tests have taken away from other programs such as music and arts. While intelligence testing such as SAT, ACT, and Common Core can be very stressful for students and taking up numerous hours for test prep, they are needed. Statistics from those test help determine where more focus should be in certain educational areas within a school or they can help the individual student see their weaknesses in certain academic areas.
