Week 2 Reflection

Improved Essays
The last 3 weeks have been a whirlwind of chaos with everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off! Between preparing for and starting state testing, dealing with a less than helpful yearbook company, and a “heated” field day, I have decided that we really need more hours in a day.
MAP Testing All of the testing scheduling I discussed in my second reflection has gone amuck this week. The testing company’s (Nextera) server went down on Wednesday morning which meant we had a scheduled test that was not able to be taken. This morning, with the torrential rain and flooding, our attendance rate was low and a power surge kicked us out of the testing session. When attempting to log back in, about half the students were not able

Well, we have been struggling with the technical side of actually putting the product together is an understatement. The interface is less than user friendly, and the technical support ranks up there with that frustrating State Farm commercial where they are on hold forever. After many tears and a few choice words, the yearbook was finally finished and is in production. In discussing the contract for yearbooks for next year, I was very candid about the experience and told the principal that as an administrator, I would not use that company again, if not only for the fact that my teachers were very frustrated with the process and did not want to participate again if we went with the same company. I believe that this was a beneficial experience because it really drove home the true meaning of listening and hearing your faculty, and as an administrator that will be a key factor in building and maintaining relationships with my …show more content…
She proceeded to get into the PE teacher’s face and yell at her. Then, she berated a student who was celebrating the “tie” in the hallway so loudly that she could be heard from one end of the hallway to the other. The students from the other class asked the principal to give the trophy to this teacher’s class just to stop the infighting, which the principal did. The principal gave a big speech about how the contest was really supposed to be about working as a team and comradery. After school this teacher cornered the other class’s teacher and screamed at her because she felt like she was thrown under the bus. Both teachers left campus total basket cases. I talked to the assistant principal about how that situation would normally be handled. (This was a Friday afternoon.) She said that typically they would be called to the office to sort things out, but one of the teachers had to go to a funeral and the other had a play to go to. They would generally review the footage of what happened in the common area and would decide if anything warranted a suspension. She said that would most likely not happen in this situation, only because state testing was starting the following Monday. I have to say I have very mixed feelings about this. We cannot expect students to be respectful and

These situations ought to be handled in the most appropriate and confidential matter. Using the principle of subsidiarity and dealing with challenges at the lowest level of proficient authority is essential. This incident involves a student whose huge future can be threatened. The reputation of the school, the educators, and the administrative staff can be tarnished also. Not to mention, the case is occurring while there is political dissatisfaction, a broadening racial divide, and economic deterioration.…

Here, I have collected the works, which, I believe, I did badly and which I used as starting points in improvement of these skills. I think, I didn't succeed in my Week 3 Reflections because of lack of proper analysis. However, I have improved after it and started to write Week Reflections with more thoughts and details, as you can see form my later works. In Essay#3 Draft#1 I again did the similar mistake I have used too much sources of which I did too few analysis. I changed it by focusing only on Games of Thrones in the later drafts and by writing more on every draft.…

As co-president of Queers and Allies (abbreviated Q + A), I have come across several disputes that have involved more than one teacher and an administrator. It came to the administration’s attention that one of the club members had expressed anger about how the presidents had chosen to present the club at fall fair. Despite the fact that the majority of the students at my school are liberal, the parents tend to be a more conservative crowd. My co-president and I took it upon ourselves to initiate the resolution and emailed our sponsor, the Dean of Students, and the teacher who had explained the student’s worries.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

As Vice President of Recruitment, my goal is to shape the process in a way that promotes class bonding while maintaining their GPA, or even seeing an increase in their GPA. I’ve created this case for a 6 week process to show how that is possible within 6 weeks rather than an unnecessary 7 week process. With these new changes that I plan on bringing to the process it will guarantee that new members have the time to study and not fall behind in classes because they are not worrying about trivial things such as greetings, 24/7 unity, and inappropriate interview questions. Instead their time will be properly allocated to activities such as formal library hours and professional interviews. While it may seem this can be accomplished just as easily…

    Yearbook Letters

This year’s staff’s greatest accomplishment was submitting out pages for the recommended deadline and submitting the final pages for the final yearbook deadline. For next year’s staff’s, they can build on this accomplishment but having more motivation than us, because we had 7 yearbook staff members that stayed for the whole year and about 5 yearbook staff members that left at the the middle of the year. The goals I suggest for the next year’s staff is to make the yearbook a priority, be responsible of your own duties and turn your assigned pages on time, use your best effort to make the yearbook, be inclusive which means try to feature as many people as your pages as possible, show a variety of people not just your friends or popular people, lastly encourage your friends or peers to submit pictures in for the yearbook. Make sure they buy a yearbook also, the more yearbook sold, the better. Some obstacles or challenges that you may run into is trying to contact the coaches or students for…

I am writing due to recent issues with the County’s supportive staff for IHSS AC. In the past staff was always extremely helpful and routinely went beyond and above expectations. One thing that could alway be counted on is the ability to get the agenda and minutes out a little early so members had time to review everything (if only members actually took the time to actually review the material). As you are probably aware, I asked Diana Kenderian to take over responsibility of working with the staff on approving the agenda since my responsibilities as well as educational pursuits started causing delays in approving the agenda. Until last month (July) I can't recall the committee ever needing to cancel a meeting due to the agenda not being posted withing the manditory 72 hours prior to the meeting.…

Through the past eight weeks my view of theology has changed significantly. From my prior reflection essay I discussed theology as a word I could associate with my father and his theology degree he had been seeking to finish. After taking this course I realize that the word theology can be associated to much more and I can also have my own views and ideas as to what things might mean. Through the course I enjoyed the in depth study from start to finish and found it easy to start due to us truly starting at the beginning. In church settings it is often discouraging to hear a sermon and have the pastor assume the congregation knows what he is referring to when discussing various books of the Bible.…

I think my Jumpstart members and I need to make time to talk about situations like these during our lectures so that the children even learn life-lessons. Maybe next time we can raise the question of ‘what should we do?’ to the entire class and not just the parties involved in the incident. Overall, I think this week was a very eye opening because I got the opportunity to demonstrate my authority to the children…
