The purpose of this lab is to develop the skill of making a testable hypothesis, use TLC plate to identify the compounds in a mixture, and separate a mixture of compounds using column chromatography. The experiment performed was to run a TLC of the unknown number 113 with the 5 standards to determine the components of the unknown drug. The hypothesis identity components were performed in column chromatography to separate out the components of the unknown drug, to evidence the components by using the melting point range. In column chromatography, the compounds get separate based on the interaction with the solvent. Based on the observation and testable hypothesis, indicate that the unknown drug 113 is Anacin.
