Test is a word that I tend to avoid. Test in general are fine but if I’m not prepared than a panic attack will be happening. I rather not take a test but I know it’s necessary to test our knowledge and understanding of a certain material. My test anxiety gets to the point that I start to shake, sweat, have palpitations, insomnia, and I tend to have the worst migraine possible. These symptoms tend to block my attention towards the goal at hand which is to pass the test. My first test ever in life that I can remember was my ESL test in kindergarten. This test was what determined my future at LISD. If I failed, then I would have had to attend a special school until I reached the necessary potential to be integrated back into LISD. Before testing I was told it was a game and I took it as a game and went along with it. If I would have failed, I would have been transferred to a special school where failure would have happened. I don’t believe that there truly is a good or bad test out there. I believe what makes a good test is the preparation the student has towards the material. A super easy test doesn’t confirm the knowledge learned from that section and a tough test can cause you to give up, so it all depends on the test taker My test taking skills have improved throughout my life because I’ve learned to study ahead, ask questions, sleep well, eat well, chew mint gum during the test, and to breath before reading each question. Just this past week I encountered a 75 question test which had a different set up. This almost sent me into a panic attack but I used my calming techniques and I was able to continue. This test was also timed which placed unnecessary stress. I went ahead and answered all the questions I could and then I went back and read each question I was unsure about with a sense of calmness which allowed me to figure out the correct
