Case study test anxiety
Overview of the scenario
Katya is a smart and diligent student with a 3.0 grade point average. She always experiences severe anxiety before tests due to she doesn 't believe that she did not prepared enough for the test. Katya must do well on her chemistry exam or she 'll lose her scholarship. Toward the end of the semester, the pressure is so strong and has made her test anxiety so bad that she had a panic attack while trying to study. The chemistry exam is two days away and she needs help.

After doing some research regarding test anxiety, the best way to overcome test anxiety is to find out what cause the anxiety before the test. There are many thing that cause anxiety from the test such as unpreparedness, do not understand the material, or simply because you do have anxiety test. There are many methods to help student overcome test anxiety such as build self confident in your self or self-efficacy, good preparation with relaxation techniques, and Cue-Controlled …show more content…
Donatelle the author of book Health the Basics 3rd edition, she mentions, “Self-efficacy is an individual belief that he or she is capable of achieving certain goal…”(16). In order to help Katya build her self-efficacy, she needs to emphasizes the role of observational learning, social experience and believed in her self that she is capable of being successful. For smart and diligent student who received scholarship like Katya keeping grade above average may cause a lot of pressure and stress. It is important for her to believe in her self and stay motivated, positive at all time. Stress has been proven to affect academic performance. In order to do great in her chemistry test she can do several things, but it has to start by changing the way she thinks to stay focused and positive. Katya can also search help from counseling to express her anxiety and tutoring to prepare her self better for the test. These are some method to build her confidant before she takes the test. Another important things she could do are resting and eating
