Tesla motors was found by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003 by engineers in Silicon Valley. Tesla is the newest successful American motor company since Ford motors 111 years ago. These engineers wanted to prove to the world that electrically powered cars could be better than gas cars. Tesla’s first design was a sports car powertrain built around an AC induction motor which was patented in 1888 by Nikola Tesla. Then in 2008 they released this car as the Tesla Roadster. It amazed the world with its 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds and its ability to travel 245 mile on a single charge. Within a year, there were more than 2,400 roadsters on the road in around 30 different countries. Then in 2012, tesla launched another model. This was the Model S which was the first premium electric sedan. This was a four door car that could fit seven passenger. This car was made to be a family car because it is very spacious and very comfortable. Because this car is bigger, it lost some performance from the Roadster.
