How is Tesla changing the world of cars?
Before today, we were living in a world full of cars that pollute the Earth and people don’t even think twice about it. The amount of damage these gas guzzling cars have already done to our world is unimaginable. Solutions like electric and hybrid cars are all out there, but Tesla is well known for setting themselves apart from the competition such as other electric cars as well as gas powered ones. Tesla's main goal as said by the CEO Elon Musk "to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport...". Tesla is here to improve the efficiency of our everyday cars. Tesla has paved the way for energy efficient electric cars that produce …show more content…
That is when the goal of sustainable transport began to lift off. Within the next few years Tesla unveiled and started producing three different electric vehicles. Those vehicles being the model S, model X, and model 3. All of these cars are powered by a lithium ion battery. These batteries are rechargeable and allow to travel such large distances on a single charge. Some batteries reach up to 300 miles on a single charge. These lithium ion batteries have the highest charge capacity of any other battery in history. These batteries solidify the fact that an electric car can outperform a gas-powered car for a long distance at an astounding low price. The average price for a full tank of gas is $46.20. While the price to fully charge a Tesla is around $8. Driving an average of 20,000 miles a year can cost upwards of $2,000 when using a gas car. Driving the same distance in a Tesla will cost around $350. Aside from the immense savings, the convenience of filling up or “charging up” is far superior to that of a non-electric car. Tesla’s can be charged at home, so overnight charging will give you the energy you need to get around the whole day. If home charging isn’t enough Tesla also has supercharging stations all over the world and are rapidly growing to more …show more content…
With only few thousand sales in the first two years of production. In June 2014, Tesla broke ground on the Gigafactory, a giant Tesla factory built with the intention to increase production significantly. The Gigafactory is intended to be the biggest building in the world and will output a rate of 500,000 cars per year. The factory will also be solely powered by renewable energy with solar panels across the entire roof and a wind farm outside of the factory. Tesla's completely clean energy factory adds to their goal of transitioning the worlds energy from non-sustainable to sustainable energy. This factory is massive enough to produce a worldwide supply of lithium ion batteries. With the kind of power and productivity of a factory this large, it could potentially make Tesla one of the most commonly owned electric cars of the upcoming
