Tesla Fast Cars

Tesla’s new driver less cars are an innovation and could be great as it could improve commutes as well as allow the individuals to become more productive. However, I believe that Tesla’s new autopilot system could potentially be dangerous as they would have programmed route data and could ignore traffic lights which could cause more traffic accidents and whole system of sensors, etc. could malfunction.
In the article by NewsELA titled PRO/CON: Are self-driving cars the future of transportation? By the Tribune News Service, it was stated “Driverless cars rely primarily on pre-programmed information about routes. If something on the road changes, they are lost. For example, they would not obey a short-term stop sign. They also have problems figuring out when objects such as bits of paper garbage are harmless, so they can change course abruptly for no reason.” This represents that the cars wouldn’t necessarily respond to signs and notifications that would be there for the car and the passenger’s safety. If the car’s sensors ignored a stop sign, the car could potentially cause a car accident. Also, there are many computers that malfunction DAILY. Some may believe that the car would allow the roads to be safer as the sensors could detect many things before a crash could happen but that point of view isn’t considering how often everyday devices like computers crash and how even though the car had sensors, that the car might even be TOO sensitive and cause more accidents.
