The article “Tesla: This Is Our Most Significant Step Towards Safe Self-Driving Cars”, written by Kirsten Korosec addressed the new advancements in Tesla's self parking/driving car technology. Tesla, the creators of the full electric car, have recently introduced new software dubbed “autopilot” which when activated takes control of the entire vehicle and drives it for you. Due to constant improvements in this technology they frequently distribute online software updates that further improve the vehicle's automation. The most recent of these updates is being dubbed “Summon” which further improve the safety of the self parking technology included in their “autopilot”.

It collects this data from multiple sources such as: ultrasonics, which are the use of ultrasonic waves to determine length and objects, GPS, cameras, and sensor data. Another way of collecting data that contributes to its autonomous driving and parking capabilities are its ability to “learn” based on interactions on the road; these scenarios that are “learned” are then transferred to ever tesla car with auto pilot. With all these different sources of data it allows the car to accurately park by using corresponding data to make an informed decision which results in a well parked car.
All in all, the use of Tesla's autopilot and summon software update serves to ease the cognitively stressful job of driving. It accomplishes this through a series of algorithms, learnt scenarios, and collected data which are then used to effectively park the car. Additionally, with Tesla's constant advancement in driverless technology and their ability apply it to all cars easily; it will allow for a more updated way of driving which in turn will increase the overall safety on the
