SECTION 1: PEST ANALYSIS
1. INTRODUCTION
The company I chose is Tesco and the country is Malaysia. The report below provides an insight into the Tesco supermarket company with emphasis on its external environment analysis and Tesco analysis of resources, competence and culture. The PEST (Political, Economic, Sociology and Technology) are the factors that Tesco Malaysia need to consider when running their business.

2. INDUSTRY ANALYSIS: PEST FRAMEWORK

Political factor is activities that are related to government policies and practices which it can affect the business activities.

The consumers of Tesco Malaysia consist of a diverse and multi-cultural group. Therefore, Tesco needs to show their concern and acknowledgement of these different cultures. This can be done in a many ways, for example, tesco need to have festive sales to encourage customer to purchases during the festive seasons. Moreover, Tesco did encouraging their customers to purchase in more products by providing lower prices for greater quantity of product as well as providing special trolleys for large items. This can make the sales of the company increases and as well the demand for product by customer will be as well increase, this can lead to the business can get more product with cheaper price from their supplier and Tesco can save mor income. The basic need of society has been standardized and it is possible to find a large number of items to fulfil the needs of customers. For example, Tesco currently not only caters to families looking for a place to purchase groceries and other household necessities; however Tesco has expanded their business and is currently even selling electronics as well as clothes. To accommodate the busy Malaysian lives that we lead, Tesco has pushed its operating hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays to 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends. This will help Tesco to get more sales especially during the weekends because they have extended their working hours until late night.
