Stephen has been in Tesco quite enough to understand how the business operates, he has twenty departments’ heads who reports to him and who also have teams under them, meaning he is in control of big section that required wisdom in managing and taking final decision. As for the other leadership style in some situation he chooses to be democratic as he still allows his department heads to suggest ideas which he believes in this way he promote motivation and creativity among his team, even if mistakes happened. Like when they planned a major stock reduction program, he encourages his managers to put forward ideas and develop plans, which shows that he believes in his team regardless if they encounter errors or did mistakes, he still encourage them as he believe his team will learn from their own mistakes and will get experienced by the time. He is also democratic as he prefers his teams to suggest ideas since he has a range of responsibilities, and its better if he involves his team and ask for their opinions, also because he prefer to promote ownership among his team members in order to increase the confidence and trust among them while taking decisions. He can also be Laissez-faire on situations as he wants to his team to work on their own depending on their sense of judgment and experience in order to promote ownership, in the same time he will be there to support if they
