It is around noon and I am sitting in my English classroom reading Why I Write by Terry Tempest Williams. Listening to her reasons about why she writes, I can relate to some, but most I can’t connect to at all. When my english teacher gives us the homework assignment I think to myself, why do I write? I answer because I'm told to. I then slept on it for a night and realized that if I had to pick writing or reading, I’d pick reading. So now the question in my head is why do I read? I read because it gives me joy. I read because because I can become someone else. I read because one day I hope I can do what some of the characters can do.
