Everything in life revolves around actions and reactions, even those circumstances that may result in some form of tragedy there are both negative and positive outcomes. What originates are lessons learned, which would offer opinions/solutions that may result in a better understanding of the situation in question.
With Terry Schiavo’s case as you previously mentioned the increased or new awareness for the general public in the area of advanced directives. You could also highlight the creation of the Federal Law, The Patient Self-Determination Act of 1990, which would have arisen from the new found interest in having advanced directives in place.
