As soon as September 11 happen, evidence gathered that many law enforcement were being put in and engaging in many new homeland security roles by having law enforcement officer engage more in coordinating homeland security at a state level while collecting, sharing and analyzing information based on intelligence. This is the first way terrorism had affected the modern approach to policing and law enforcement. Law enforcement realized that there are many threats with advanced technology that had the means of creating successful terrorist attacks and in order to stop these attacks, law enforcement had to study and learn from mistakes to be more successful in implementing programs that could help stoop terrorism and aid in the overall safety production of the United States of America. They had to get more tech savvy in protecting critical infrastructure along with many important key access codes. Not knowing when terrorism can strike, law enforcement had to make sure that the nations boarders were not being entered illegally along with airports and seaports. This model that is being developed focuses on an assumption that many terrorism acts and terrorist events are not even closely related to what is considered traditional crimes that would have anything to do with smuggling or minor considered crimes. It is argued as I can see from interpreting my own theory that the standards for being prepared for terrorism are unlike any other category of crime and has a different approach than that of normal crimes. I do feel with how terrorism has effected the modern policing method that it should be in a category by itself that focus on the risks along with how law enforcement should be prepared in case of terrorism. I learned a lot from writing this essay and feel that there have been major changes in law enforcement that requires them to be more detail in their work but also by working with federal enforcement they are learning all the proper training and are learning how to be a step ahead of terrorism.
