On September 11th, 2001, one of the biggest terrorism attacks in America occurred. Almost all people in America know that the people who were responsible for this horrific act of terrorism came from the Islam religion, and some people can’t seem to forget it. Any time a muslim is arrested or accused of doing something illegal, people wrongfully assume that they are trying to bomb our country or perform an act of terrorism. However, people aren’t so quick to label white people as a terrorist. Often times the news reports about the attacks that white people do, dance around the word terrorist. Sometimes they even have the audacity to defend the terrorist with the petty excuse of them having a mental health deficiency. Terrorism is an act that is performed by more than one religion and or skin colour and it should be treated as such.
A lot of people don’t know much about the islamic religion. They know what the media shows them or what their peers tell them. sometimes people even think that every muslim to walk the face of the earth is a terrorist. Most people also make the mistake of assuming that islam is a religion of violence, and the main goal of any islamic person is to kill, steal and destroy. In a passage entitled “Top Ten Ways Islamic Law Forbids Terrorism Author Juan Cole (2013) uses this direct quote from the Quran.
