A few weeks later she called her husband pretending to be another person saying his wife was deceased. Hilley later returned changing her appearance and pretended to be another person, by the name of Teri Martin. They figured out that Teri Martin was Robbi Homan because the obituary for Robbin Homan police could not find any information that they could verify she was a real person. They put the pieces together that they were the same person and that Robbi Homan staged her on death. Hilley told the truth to the police of who she was. They convicted and sentenced her to life in prison for the murder of her husband and attempted murder of her daughter. Hilley again wanting to be free decided to escape from prison in 1987.
