Teresa Burton, born in New Jersey and raised in Virginia, in May of 1998 graduated with a Diploma in Nursing from Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC), Professional School of Nursing in Petersburg, Virginia. The SRMC School of Nursing presented Teresa with The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship Award, which is a grant for the education of deserving female students with financial needs for education. During that period, she worked as a receptionist in a satellite office adjacent to Southside Regional Medical Center.
