Staying calm can help prevent an emotional rush, thus stopping many easily avoided mistakes. If someone is trying to get away with something, the first move they will want to make is to manipulate it so the entire situation is theirs to control. That is what Mary did when she returned home from the grocery store. On her way back, she was telling herself, “Do everything right and natural,” so that when the time came, she would be prepared to do what she needed to (3). She made sure that she was in control of the situation and knew what she was to do.
