This can be seen in the text where John Proctor states, “I have known her, sir. I have known her.” (III. 110) John Proctor here admits to having a relation to Abigail closer than servant and master. But, Elizabeth is not realizing that John had already given the information that he had committed the sin with Abigail Williams. Unfortunately, Elizabeth does not disclose the information that John Proctor had cheated on her with Elizabeth. This can be seen in the text where Danforth is questioning Elizabeth and Danforth states, “Look at me! To your own knowledge, had John Proctor ever committed the crime of lechery?” Answer my question!
